please pray for Nepal

As you are probably aware, the nation of Nepal experienced a severe earthquake this morning. To hear the rising death toll saddens me; having recently served in Nepal, the nation and its people remain close to my heart. Please take a moment to remember the people of the Himalayas today, and pray for their consolation and for their salvation.

For our Christian brothers and sisters in Nepal, please pray for the empowerment of the Holy Spirit to bear witness of Christ's compassion -in word and deed- during this time of struggle in their communities, and that they would take comfort in the joy of their salvation.

a little about Wycliffe Hall

I am frequently asked exactly where I will be living while I study in England this coming school year, and how I am receiving ministry training in a secular university such as Oxford. The answer is Wycliffe Hall. Oxford University is made up of colleges or halls, and each one has distance aspects of character and identity. Several halls that were originally founded for the training of clergy continue to function for that purpose and are called permanent private halls. Wycliffe Hall is one such college and retains a deep fervor for the Word of God, rigorous study, and vibrant evangelical community.

Wycliffe hall is a diverse and rich Christian community which I look forward to exploring and engaging.

no ivory towers: a glimpse of OCCA in action

The Oxford Center for Christian Apologetics (OCCA), the program with which I will be doing my apologetics training and ministry while taking my Undergraduate Theological certificate at Oxford, isn't about training scholars in ivory towers. The OCCA goes out on Mission Weeks, outreach events to university campuses throughout the UK and Europe, to engage with real people's real questions, and offer a reason for the hope that we have. I am really looking forward to participating in these missions during my OCCA training!
