a summer away, a summer to pray

In less than a week, I am heading out for the summer. Leaving my dear Maui behind, i am spending a summer away- and the couple months take me far and away. A visit to my ministry partners, a stay with my family, a break abroad with a friend, and an outreach to the Olympic Games in London... these appointments effectively fill my summer schedule.

As I am keeping up quite a pace this summer, I appreciate the prayers of friends. Its my sincere desire to engage fully in each opportunity i have this summer: encouragement, partnering, investing in my family, personal study, relationships, outreach planning & logistics, and engaging in all aspects of missions when the summer culminates in the London period. Below is a general overview of my activities this summer, for those of you that are praying. Thank you for lifting me up this summer, that I would be an effective servant of Christ in all the opportunities i have been entrusted with in these varied months, both far and away.

the hello kitty glasses strike back

Its only Tuesday and already the to do list for the week has doubled in size.  What's a girl to do? Enter the kitty glasses. I bought these trendy frames (they're all the rage in Hong Kong) when I was in Asia last, and they seem to have therapeutic properties. Essentially, I think their charm lies in that it is virtually impossible to take yourself completely seriously when wearing them. Or you forget about them and do take yourself seriously, until you realize you have been talking to people whist still wearing them... acting completely serious. Haha. So much fun to be had. A great stress reliever. So after adding items to my to do list yesterday, i was roaming around in these... and somehow through the kitty glasses it just didn't seem so bad.

Yes, whiskers and a polka dotted bow. Fun waiting to happen.

introducing... my summer outreach team!

While we usually take our teams to locations we're committed to in Asia, this summer I am leading an outreach team to LONDON, England! This outreach location was strategically chosen because of the enormous opportunity presented by Olympic Games outreach initiatives.
We want to go out to reach the whole world with the truth and love of Jesus Christ. But this summer, "the whole world" is planning on turning up in London. Why not meet them there? In partnership with local churches, we will be reaching out to both UK residents and international visitors through a variety of means and venues. We are praying that the seeds of the Kingdom which we sow in obedience will be carried back to "the ends of the earth", even passing borders we never could have crossed ourselves.

The nations are at our doorstep-  gathering in an English speaking city with hearts searching for love, peace and meaning. Do you hear the call? I do. And so do Wing, Aimee, Kent and Samuel. Please keep them in your prayers as they continue in the next two months of their course here in Maui, being equipped to "give an answer for the hope that is in them".
